New skills
Learning something new is usually difficult especially with a program like Premiere Pro. I had to learn almost everything from scratch by watching tutorials explaining how to use the software in depth. These videos really helped me grasp how to use the software correctly in a way that was easy to comprehend. With these videos I was able to adjust on how to use the different types of tools within the software like the snippet tool or learning how to unlink an audio from a video.
Creating New Clips
Creating new clips is fairly easy once you understand how to use specific tools to help you create new clips within a clip that was given to you. I learned that if I wanted to use a particular section of a video then the mark in and mark out tool would be my best friend. Using these tools allowed me to start the video where I wanted it and ending the clip to my desired length, doing this helped me use one clip like the interview (of the manager) but use different sections of the video to create a new clip that fit the context of my video.
Challenges I faced
Although the tutorials I watched helped me understand how to use Premiere Pro on a basic level there was still some challenges I faced when creating my video. For example, I had to learn how to delete the audio of one video so that the audio that was in V1 would be the main audio heard for that section of the video. Overcoming these challenges has made it easier for future projects because I know how to navigate through Premiere Pro on a more experienced level compared to my prior knowledge.
Important Take aways
Through this process of learning how to navigate Premiere Pro I was able to become more confident with my editing skills for future projects and discover new tools that I wasn't too experienced with before. An important note I would recommend is to ensure that your project has saved in Premiere Pro before exiting out so that you don't run into the risk of losing your work. Also to remind myself that patience is key, since it does genuinely take time to learn how to use the program and it's okay to get suck sometimes.
My Portfolio Project
With all the experience I gained doing this singular project I would hope that I continue to learn how to navigate Premiere Pro so that by the time it comes when I have to edit for my Portfolio video I am comfortable with my knowledge to edit the video to the best of my ability.
